I have spent a lot of time pondering a word for 2011. A whole year, actually, as I was never able to pick one out last year when Beth started talking about it. But it occurred to me today, while thinking again about how I find myself feeling the same "held back" feeling that maybe I feel this way because I never just jump. I have lots of excuses for why I don't but are any of them really reasons?
I don't leave my job because in this market I'm afraid of the instability of a new job
I don't create despite so much inspiration in my head because I think I don't have the time
I don't get my kids involved in as much as I could because it can be such a headache to get it all started and then cleaned up
I don't start projects because I don't know when I can finish them
I don't...
I don't...
I don't...
And today I asked myself why do I make so many excuses? Time to end the "don't" and start the "do". More importantly, time to JUMP, feet or head first (does it really matter which right now) and make 2011 the year that I don't hold back anymore.
I am going to JUMP into the job market and look for that new job until I find it
I am going to JUMP into creation because I love inspiration and color and life
I am going to get out my son's telescope and show him how to use it (and hide it from dog and little brother) and show my daughter all the craft stuff that she is itching to learn.
I am going to redo the boys' bedroom, one piece at a time, in whatever spare moments I can dig up. I may take me a year to do it but I am going to JUMP in. I will make that table and bookcase I've had my eye on and reorganize the kitchen cabinets and etc. I won't do it all at once and I will do it one at a time but I WILL do it.
I have started a new blog this year with fresh new intentions. I realized once a few years ago that if there was a part of my life that I was unhappy with and I had been able to make the realization of what it was that made me unhappy, I had only myself to blame if I didn't fix it. I am fixing it. This is the year that I jump.
